Putting teams on "pause" for multiple seasons
The first recorded mention of the Asheville Moonshiners baseball club came in 1897. They played for one season in the Southeastern League with a handful of other teams. Then both the club and the league went away, not resurfacing again until 1910.
This had me wondering: If I tried to re-create such a scenario in my baseball world, what happens when you put teams/leagues on pause for multiple seasons? I assume you just don't create a schedule for those seasons? Do teams still make roster moves? Do players lose their ratings? Does it make everything wonky? Should you just dump all the players off the teams? Kill the franchise off altogether and restart another one?
Anyone else have experience with this? Thanks!
