MML Playoffs
It was all about winning for the Brookline Bandoliers -- and win they did.
There was nothing fancy in how they went about it, players said, they just prepared mentally and physically and then went out and played baseball.
"We did the little things right and we did the big things right," said catcher Asa Werber, who was named series MVP. "Now we're the league champions."
Brookline defeated the Burlington Ferals by a score of 8-3 at Windsor Locks Stadium to take the series 4-3.
"Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you make your own luck," said Brookline manager Francisco Lugo. "We got lucky a few times, but mostly we did the right things by being prepared for each game and playing the game the way it's meant to be played."

Forest Grove Pugilists Are Champs
The Forest Grove Pugilists pulled out all the stops tonight, winning the Boston Minor Series in a hard-fought series with the Mystic Pines Raybathers.
It was a seesaw affair, but with a 14-3 victory at Wattz Park, Forest Grove lay claim to the franchise's 1st championship.
"There's no denying we faced a tough opponent," said Foo Fieterz. "But as the old saying goes, 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going,' and that's what we did today."
The champs finished the regular season 58-30 and claimed first place in the Massachusetts Association Glowing Sea League.
A victory parade is set to be scheduled in Forest Grove in the days to come.

Stingwings Defeat Bloatflies
The Hyde Park Stingwings ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Lynn Woods Bloatflies 6-2 to win the Rookie Series.
Hyde Park won the series 3-1, capturing the title for the 1st time.
"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Hyde Park manager Jason Wasmer. "It's a great feeling."
The champs finished the regular season 58-30 and claimed first place in the South League Southeast Division.
In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and center fielder Tobias Hoffman said the Stingwings have "great fans and they deserve this."
"I am so happy for our city right now," he said.
