CBO Draft Outlook
With the draft order set, assuming no draft pick trades, the OSA scouts are back on the tail to figure out who is going where in the 2309 Rookie Draft.
They have not changed their minds about their expected 1st round order of draft picks, so let's take a look at the final four players who were not in the original mock since it involved only 24 teams. In this, we'll place the team name associated with the draft pick in our analysis of the rest of the 1st-round prospects.
25. University Point - SS Philip Eilhart, Worcester Crows - In his four-year career with the Wattz/Worcester youth team, Eilhart was a good all-around player, batting .311 with 50 home runs, 205 runs, 188 RBI, and 84 stolen bases. He is a good fastball hitter but needs to work on offspeed stuff. He is a good defensive player and has good speed that can lead to lots of stolen bases. Some scouts think he should be chosen higher in the 1st round.
26. Nordhagen Beach - LF Cal Drogo, Rockland Seafarers - Drogo played one season in the CYL with Rockland joining this past season. He was the full-time LF his entire time with the Seafarers. In his senior season, his power game stepped up, hitting 17 home runs as he has now developed more. Scouts think his best quality in hitting will be his power game. He is also a decent corner outfielder who can play CF in a pinch.
27. Starlight - SP Dixie Williams, Danvers Perception - Williams is a player with potential over production, according to scouts. While his youth numbers are not bad, he was never a dominant pitcher. In his four-year career with the Perception, Williams went 27-25 with a 4.23 ERA in 79 starts. In 457.1 innings, he walked 150 batters and struck out 423. Scouts think he could be the type to either be a 4th starter or RP. He has a great fastball and a solid changeup. His third pitch, the sinker, needs a lot of work.
28. Oberland - 2B Mav Coreburst, South Beach Waves - Coreburst may be a player trending down in his draft stock, so a 1st-round pick for him may be a surprise. He certainly has good potential, but he saw his batting average and home runs depreciate each season with his best year coming in his freshman year where he hit .379 with 19 home runs. In his senior season, he had career lows of .262 with 10 home runs. His defense is solid, which could help him, but he needs to swing back to improving his offense to ever make it to the CBO.
