How is the BABIP ratings determined for batters?
For pitchers, BABIP is a rating that can be edited like any other attribute (1-250) and pitcher movement is used to decide HRA.
For batters, BABIP is greyed out and can't be edited, although it is visible. I can increase BABIP by increasing contact, but there is no attribute or stat that can be edited that affect only BABIP.
In real life, BABIP can be determined by launch angle, sweet spot %, etc., but I don't think OOTP is that detailed. I'm guessing each player got their BABIP stat based on what the creators assessed them to be and then I believe it is possibly a random stat for new generated players? Again, when co tact increases, BABIP increases, but their are players with 70 contact and 50 babip and 70 babip and 50 contact.
If anyone knows or has any ideas on how to figure this out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
