2025 Opening Day Roster and Preseason Predictions

We came through Spring Training unscathed in the injury department, although Isaac Paredes managed to get himself suspended for the first two games of the regular season after throwing a tantrum in a preseason game.

So with Paredes on the restricted list to open the year, here's the Opening Day roster:

C-Yanier Diaz, Campusano
1B-Yandy Diaz
2B-Caminero
SS-C.Williams
3B-Westburg
IF-Mead
LF-Kjerstad
CF-P.Meadows
RF-J.Lowe
OF-T.Hernandez, Siri
DH-Aranda

SP-McClanahan, Springs, Rasmussen, Bradley, Littell
LR-Pepiot
MR-J.Lopez, Enright, Baz, Cleavinger
SU-Adam, A.Maldonado
CL-Fairbanks

Someone will have to go to Durham once Paredes is back and it's likely going to be Parker Meadows with Josh Lowe playing CF against RHP and Teoscar Hernandez taking over in RF.

Also thanks to the new acquisitions and a 100% healthy roster, there are quite a few players who spent significant time with the team in 2024 who are starting the year at Durham: Jose Caballero, Spencer Torkelson, Rene Pinto, Kevin Kelly, Reese Olson, Richie Palacios, Jonny DeLuca, Randy Vasquez, and Nick Loftin, with Meadows soon joining them.

And while I was feeling good about this squad going in OOTP likes them even more, predicting them to have the best record in baseball:

I believe this is even without Paredes, who was our best player last year, since he's not on the OD roster. It's thanks of course (as you can see above) to OOTP's belief that we'll have the best pitching staff in baseball with four of our starters among the league's best. So no pressure I guess.
