Recalc Ratings

Approaching the end of my first year of my first save - 1970's decade play. I have the settings set to recalc based on real life stats. For a save like this, seems to make the most sense. The save does have fictional players mixed in with real life players. Seen some interesting results affected by what I have been told is the fictional players. Anyway, I just re-read the following from the manual about my set-up:

Recalc player ratings based on real stats after each year

Forces OOTP to recalculate player ratings (both actual and potential) after each season based on how the players performed in real life. For example, if in the next season in real life a player performed at a much higher level, his OOTP ratings will increase automatically. If this is enabled it overrides the potential ratings calculation method chosen in the Advanced Options of the Historical Game Creation Wizard. If this is not enabled, players will improve normally according to their OOTP potential ratings.

Even though it doesn't actually say it in the above paragraph, it only makes sense that if a player's real stats for the next year take a turn downward, his ratings for the next year in OOTP will reflect this. On the other hand, if a player in OOTP performs much less than his real stats, does his ratings go back up next year in OOTP if the real stats warrant that?

I have 2 players that really peak my curiosity going into next year.

1970 Stats

Willie Stargell is performing well above his actual stats hitting .308 (264) 37 HR (31) and 127 RBIs (85) with about 20 games left. (his real 1971 numbers are much better than his real 1970 numbers.)

Joe Morgan hitting .199 (.268) with 15 SB (42) His real 1971 numbers are about the same as his real 1970 numbers.

I'm curious if the 1971 ratings will be affected by these fairly extreme over / under performances from their 1970 numbers? When do the recalcs actually take place? Right after the end of this season, or right at the beginning of the next season? Curious what I need to look at for off season trading?
