Looks like there are two entries for Goodman before the 1962 season begins. On 1/2, he is made inactive for HOU. On 4/3, he is released by CHA. Either transaction should have made him unavailable before 5/15, when HOU signed him as a FA. I can't say for sure, but I'd guess the 1/2 transaction was added so that Goodman will not appear at all for CHA in 1962 (in case the 4/3 transaction does not trigger for some reason -- which, in fact, might be what happened once upon a time, thus the need for the additional transaction). But that's only a guess. Regardless, I don't see how Goodman would be available for HOU those five weeks at the start of the season.
