Ground Control to Major Tom: No-Hitter
Major Tom Brennan really did a number on the Malden Grognaks at Easy Town Field today -- and that number was zero.
The Easy Town Assaultrons hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Assaultrons to victory, 1-0.
"This is something special," Brennan said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look."
The right-hander faced only 31 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 8 and walked 4.
"We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," Malden manager Eric Bendure said when asked about the epic performance. "Brennan was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number."
To date Brennan is 12-9 in 29 starts with a 3.86 ERA and has 156 strikeouts in 209.2 innings.
