I agree. It makes me think of
Power Up Baseball, the would-be NBA Jam of baseball. Even still on OOTP24 I see far too many crazy catches. Yeah, they're cool, but they lose their coolness when you see them so often.
When it comes to HR distances, I found

this link informative. We really shouldn't be averaging much more than a single 450+ home run a day in a 30 team league. Mind you, I don't have a clue what we are averaging, just what we should be. I personally don't have a problem with the distances I see (I'd say it's rare for me to see what I think is a long home run), but my league is a highly customized fictional league so I can't really compare it to MLB.
