2025 Midseason Review

*Slightly past the midseason mark

It was a brutal June, with the 10-game losing streak and all, and I'd hate to see what the team offensive numbers were for the month. As of now, they're respectable for the season thanks to our hot April & May but the team in a serious slump. The pitching remains outstanding and is propping us up now, although the defense seems to have slipped a bit.

Nothing to write home about from this bunch. The rookie Williams is leading the team in WAR thanks to Gold Glove-caliber defense, ditto for Siri in 3rd, who's been a part-timer but getting more play lately as J.Lowe has been a brutal defender when he plays CF. And our DHs (Mead, Isaac, Aranda) have combined for 0.1 WAR. Oof.

On the other hand we have a starting rotation that's the envy of most of baseball, led by McClanahan who's having a Cy Young season and has shown no ill effects of his 2nd Tommy John surgery in late 2022. The bullpen has been extremely homer-prone though, with our back-end guys (Adam, Maldonado, Fairbanks) combining to allow 20 HR in 88 IP.

Isaac has raked in the week since he was sent back down and I'm hopeful he'll be back up sooner than later. Elsewhere we don't need a starter right now with the five we've got plus Pepiot and Baz in the pen but if we did last year's first-rounder Hagen Smith is just about ready, dominating AA.
