The crazy thing is that I think it can happen in the MLB because of the financial model where the top franchises like the Dodgers and Yankees can double salaries that teams like the A's, Royals, and Pirates can offer. I have wished for a long time that the MLB would switch to a model similar to the NFL's or NBA's where good teams can remain good if they properly manage their salaries, not because they can outbid every team for a player's services.
