Game 37: Boston Americans vs. Cleveland Naps
This had all the makings of another late-inning implosion. Yet despite an 8th inning rally, the Boston American's (19-18) held off the Cleveland Naps (16-21) to take the game by a 3 to 2 score. The Americans remains 2 games out of the top spot in the American League standings.
Boston ace Noodles Hahn (6-3) picked up the win, as he limited the Naps to 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and 1 walk, striking out 3 in the 141 pitch complete game victory; Game Score 71. Jake Weimer (2-8) was tagged with the loss despite an overall solid performance in which he permitted 3 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits, 5 walks, 1 hit batsman; Game Score 72. Despite the rough season he is having, Weimer is still on my watch-list as a future trade opportunity.
Boston's limited offense was generated by Frank Chance (1 for 4, Double, Run, RBI, 2 Stolen Bases) and Danny Shay (1 for 2, Run, Walk). The Naps were led by Harry Lumley (2 for 4) and Tom Parrott (1 for 1, Run).
Player of the Game: Noodles Hahn (Season: #4 / Career: #65)
