Game 38: Boston Americans vs. Cleveland Naps
Really not sure what to make of Lush's struggles as of late, as his rookie season has not gone as well as I had hoped. In today's loss, the Cleveland Naps (17-21) beat up on the Boston Americans (19-19) by a score of 10 to 3. The loss drops the Americans back to 4th place in the American League standings.
Picking up the win was Bill "Wild Bill" Donovan (5-4) who limited the opposition to 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 3 walks; Game Score 63. Johnny Lush (5-5) was tagged with the loss after allowing a season high 9 earned runs on 8 hits, 5 walks, 1 hit batsman, and 1 balk in 5 1/3 innings of play; Game Score 13. Gus Thompson covered the final 2 2/3 innings in which he allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits and 1 walk.
Cleveland's offense had no trouble putting the ball in play, led by Bill Donovan (2 for 4, Triple, 2 Runs, 3 RBIs), Jimmy Sheckard (2 for 3, 2 Runs, 2 RBIs, 2 Walks, 2 Stolen Bases), and Watty Lee (1 for 2, Double, 2 Runs, RBI, Walk). Bill Lange (1 for 3, Triple, 2 RBIs, Walk) and Johnny Lush (1 for 2, RBI) hit the ball well in the loss.
Player of the Game: Jimmy Sheckard
