Sheffield Mountain Hares @ Minsk Bison

SMH logo by @20_range, Bison logo by @low - struggling to find bigger version

Game 1

SP - Rafael Guzman

Things started well for the Hares as Kolya Saetgaliev smashed a solo home run 435 feet over the deep leftfield fence in the game’s first at-bat and bin jameel followed this up with a single and base steal, scoring on a Jeff McBurrows single. The Bison hit back with a solo home run by Cristian Carsen in the first, and equalised with a Yin-zhen Ni double in the second. Three-runs by the Bison and only one by the Minsk a 5-3 lead going into the 6th, which was when the Hares put their foot on the accelerator. Adam Koehler hit a home-run to deep centre-field, followed by Kolya Setgaliev’s second homer of the game, giving the Hares a 6-5 lead, which was further increased by an Adam Koehler sacrifice fly, and Kolya Saetgaliev’s third home-run of the game (a club record), giving the Hares a much needed 8-5 victory.

Game 2

SP - Joey Jameson

Following the high-scoring of game one, game two took a different turn. Going to extra innings with a score of 2-2 at the end of the 9th, with two solo home runs (by Segio Rutz and Adam Koehler respectively) making up our side of the score. It only took one further inning to decide the game, as reliever Mikala Enosa was brought on by the Hares, and gave up the bullpen’s only run on a Jordan Gutierrez walk-off single. A crushing defeat for the Hares, 3-2.

Game 3

SP - Mototomi Motoyanagi

The Hares’ offence spluttered in their attempt to win the series, managing only one run (a single from bin Jameel bringing in bin Abdul in the 8th) while the Bison hit Motoyanagi for two, and reliever Christos Budd for 1, making a final score of 3-1.

And so we’re 3-6.
