I can confirm what Reed is reporting. Due to the fielding ratings issue involving modern day players, I figured the best way to play random debut would be to eliminate the modern players altogether and use retire/miss seasons according to history, turning off development and going 100% recalc. Set up a random with 1901 as the minimum and 2000 as the maximum. I assumed this would give me players ranging from the years 1901-2000 and exclude guys like Judge, Betts, Trout etc. It does just that. Problem is, any and all players will retire the minute they reach their real life 2000 season. So Andy Petitte will come in at age 23 and retire at age 27. The maximum is just that, the maximum.

I set another league to use 1901-2022. Using this method, all active modern day players retire when they reach the random debut season coinciding with the their 2022 season. This is when retire according to history is turned on.

I assumed the maximum setting worked in a way that prevented players from entering the league if they made their MLB debut later than the year set as the maximum. I also assumed that any player that debuted prior to the maximum year would have access to their entire career and would retire according to history based on their actual retirement year, not the year set as the maximum.
