Game 45: Boston Americans vs. Philadelphia Athletics

The visiting Boston Americans (24-21) jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 6 to 2 victory over the Philadelphia Athletics (22-23).

Noodles Hahn (8-3) tossed a decent game, scattering 11 hits that led to 2 earned runs in the 107-pitch effort; Game Score 59. Mordecai Brown (5-7) was saddled with the loss after he allowed 5 runs (4 earned) on 12 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings of play; Game Score 41. Buttons Briggs covered the final inning in which he allowed 1 earned run on 2 hits and 1 walk.

Both teams hit the ball well today, with the Americans led by John Farrell (3 for 4, Triple, Run), Dave Brain (2 for 4, Triple, Sac Fly, Run, 2 RBIs), and Chick Stahl (2 for 4, Double, Run, RBI, and Walk). The Athletics were powered by Honus Wagner (3 for 4, Double, Triple, Run, RBI) and George Davis (3 for 4, 2 Doubles, Run).
