Brown Crowned Champions
The Bubblers proved to be unbeatable in the 2311 Commonwealth Youth Series as they shocked the Harwich Fishheads by sweeping the series.
Brown finished them off 4-2 in the finale at Fishheads Ballpark. This is the 1st title for the club.
The new champs finished the regular season 43-26 and claimed first place in the South Region Samuel Adams Division.
LF Bubbler Mayhem, SR, was named the Commonwealth Youth Series MVP. He went 2 for 7 in the series with two home runs, a walk, three runs, and five RBI.
The heroes in the two-game sweep for each game were the Brown pitchers. In Game 1, sophomore SP Beefcake McStevens earned the victory after allowing just one earned run on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 7.0 innings. CL Pin Tell pitched two scoreless innings for the save. In Game 2, freshman SP Chad OJ pitched 7.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits with two walks and 12 strikeouts. Tell again pitched the last two innings, allowing a run and earning the save.
The Bubblers had to come out of the Losers' Bracket of the playoffs after losing their third game of the playoffs to the Fishheads. Brown then went on to win seven straight for the title with victories over Spectacle Island, Nauset Beach, West Quincy (17-0!), Marblehead, South Charles Bank, and then the Fishheads two straight times.
