28) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (35.0, o)

If the playoffs started today, this would be the seeds:

NCA
1. Starlight
2. Nahant
3. Nordhagen Beach
4. Sunshine Tidings
5. Fort Hagen (2-0 vs Salem)
6. Salem

SCA
1. Roxbury
2. University Point
3. Egret (2-1 vs FHE)
4. FHE
5. Vault 81
6. Oberland

Brotherhood League

Nahant has gone 8-2 in their past 10, including a current seven-game winning streak, to take the lead over flailing Nordhagen Beach. Salem has been the coldest team, dropping 9 of 10, including six straight, to now trail by eight games. County Crossing is another hot team in the league, using an 8-2 mark to move out of last place into 5th.

For the Party Boys, they are in a bit of a mid-season struggle, including an injury to 2B Jumper Hayes (.291/6/23) that will not see him back until August. The Boys are 4th in runs scored (414) and 3rd in runs allowed (347), showing that statistically they are right where they should be at this point in the season. SP Beachboy Nut (10-1, 1.90) has been dominant and is likely to win his ninth Vim! Pitcher Award if he maintains this pace. 3B Jacob Tarberry (.334/16/54) has been the best all-around hitter on the team, with lots of help from SS Pipe Wallcrawler (.347/12/37).

Institute League

For the most part, this league stayed steady with the top five teams all going 7-3 or 6-4 in their last 10. Starlight has been consistent and maintains the CBO's best record. Sunshine Tidings has a bit of a distance over the trio of Fort Hagen, Bunker Hill, and Lexington. Cambridge and Concord are playing for draft position.

For the 75ers, they are cursed with a good team talent-wise not playing at its expected level. Bunker Hill is 5th in runs scored (395) but 10th in runs allowed (397). Ace SP Jason Tonelli (5-6, 3.19) is pitching decently but not getting the run support he needs to thrive. SP Matt Gatekeeper (6-4, 2.25) is the same. On offense, no player is really standing out compared to the rest of the CBO. LF Jig McGhee (.317/16/51) has been the best all-around hitter.

Minutemen League

By being the only team in the ML with a winning record in their past 10 games at 7-3, University Point is starting to pull away with a CBO-best nine-game lead over Atom. There is then a jumble at positions 3-6 with Spectacle Island the closest team to .500, just four games back.

Jamaica Plain is on the verge of missing the playoffs for the second-straight season and may want to consider becoming sellers this season at eight games below .500. With the SCA's 8th best scoring team (392) and 10th in runs allowed (415), the Red Rockets just are not competitive on a daily basis. The middle of the lineup--2B Bulleye Shooterson (.305/18/53), LF Ken Debate (.328/22/66), and 3B Jaheim Harper (.311/15/43)--has been carrying the team. The pitching has been pretty bad, with ace SP Derek Green (7-6, 4.03) currently the only starter with an ERA below 5.00.

Railroad League

The top three teams all went 6-4 in their last 10 to maintain position. Roxbury holds a 2.5-game lead over both Egret and FHE, while Vault 81 and Oberland continue to keep themselves in playoff position. Diamond City is suddenly hot, winning 8 of 10, but they are way back of the rest of the pack.

Oberland is a better team than its 41-35 record indicates, but they have a tough road in a good RL. The T-51s are tied for 4th in runs scored (423) and 7th in runs allowed (369). They have the 3rd-best team batting average (.290) with 7 of 8 starters in the lineup batting .300 or better. With the acquisition of 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson (.310/11/29 at bat and 4-4, 4.95 on the mound), the T-51s could make a second-half run.

CBO Standings

CBO Players of the Week

June 26 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Sylvester Scalone was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

The scrappy The Slog Ghouls second baseman hit .536 while collecting 15 hits in 28 at-bats, 1 home run and 5 RBIs.

At the moment, Scalone is hitting .349 with 7 home runs and 32 RBIs. He has played in 66 games and scored 33 times.

The baseball must have looked as big as a balloon to Barker Cocoa of University Point last week. The first baseman had quite a 7-game stretch and today he was named the South Charles Association Player of the Week.

Cocoa delivered 10 hits in 19 at-bats to hit .526 with 4 home runs and 8 RBIs.

For the season, Cocoa is hitting .388, batted in 54 runs with 15 home runs and 68 runs scored.

July 3 - Cypher Raige is respected by most The Slog Ghouls fans for his no-frills style of play. The 21-year-old right fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He compiled a .450 average (9-for-20) with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

Currently Raige is batting .339 with 22 home runs, 54 RBIs and 53 runs scored.

A battle-tested Tomas Jones declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 34-year-old University Point right fielder collected the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

He wrapped up the week with a .500 average, 11 hits in 22 at-bats, 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

This year, Jones is hitting at a .350 pace with 14 home runs and 68 RBIs. He has played in 67 games and scored 37 times.

CCBL Analysis

The CCBL's 2311 season has come to an end with eight teams alive for the chance to play for the College Series. Though it will change in the future, this season, the league was divided into four divisions, separating the conferences. Next season, teams will be aligned in full conferences.

For the 2311 season, all division winners received automotive bids to the playoffs with the next four best records earning a wildcard spot. Teams were seeded according to record, so we will see one division winner as the 8th seed in the playoffs since their division had no teams above .500.

Division winners were:
BCAC North - Winthrop College
BCAC South - Mass Bay University
MassCon West - Assumption College
MassCon East - Mass Atlantic University

The first-round of the double-elimination tournament will look like this:
#8 Mass Atlantic at #1 Assumption
#5 Northeastern at #4 Harvard
#7 Glowing Sea at #2 Mass Bay
#6 Boston College at #3 Winthrop
