Jackson Holliday tripled to start the game and Adley Rutchman followed with a 424 blast to RCF to give Baltimore an immediate 2-0 lead. Trout tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a 2 run shot to RF. The Angels took the lead in the 2nd. Velasquez walked with 1 out and O’Hoppe singled. After Neto grounded out to 1B (the runners advancing), Rengifo singled to CF scoring both runners. Schanuel blasted his 5th home run, a 2 run shot, with 2 out in the 5th to make it 6-2. Rengifo’s RBI single in the 6th made it 7-2. Westburg followed with a single to score another run, and Schanuel capped it off with a bases-clearing double later in the inning to make it 11-2.
Anderson pitched effectively, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings. He struck out 5 and walked 3. Angel Rondon relieved him and made his Angels debut. He retired all 3 men he faced.
The Angels continued to pour it on in the bottom of the 7th. Neto blasted a 2 run home run to make it 13-2. Trout hit his 2nd home run of the game, a 3 run shot to LF, later in the inning. Neto hit a solo home run in the 8th.
The Angels offense erupted for 18 hits. Trout went 3-6 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5. Rengifo, O’Hoppe, and Neto also had 3 hits. Like Trout, Neto also had 2 home runs.
