The Twins took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning, although Royce Lewis was thrown out at the plate trying to make it 2-0. Max Kepler and Eduardo Escobar hit back-to-back home runs in the 2nd inning.
Schanuel singled to extend his hitting streak to 15 games in the bottom of the 2nd, and Neto followed with a home run down the RF line to make it 3-2.
Gonzalez tripled in the 3rd, his 1st hit as a Angel. The Halos loaded the bases in the inning but could not score.
Detmers pitched well after the 2nd inning and ended up with a quality start. He allowed 3 runs over 6 innings, striking out 7 and walking 2.
Trout went deep in the 6th to tie the game. Schanuel and Neto drew walks and O’Hoppe followed with a single to give the Angels the lead.
Nick Mears entered the game to pitch the 7th. He allowed 2 base runners but got out of the inning. The Twins scored 5 times off of Luis Garcia in the 8th to take the lead. All the runs were unearned thanks to errors by Schanuel and Westburg. Minnesota added a run of Jose Soriano in the 9th.
Final Score: Minnesota 9, Los Angeles 4
