Game 66: Philadelphia Athletics vs. Boston Americans
A tremendous pitching battle between Noodles Hahn and Joe Turner. Thanks to a timely 9th-inning sacrifice fly by Hahn, the Boston Americans (39-27) topped the Philadelphia Athletics (36-30) by a score of 1 to 0. The Americans maintain a 3-game lead in the American League race.
Noodles Hahn (12-5) twirled a gem, scattering 5 hits and 2 walks on his way to the 104-pitch shutout; Game Score 79. Joe Turner (6-4) pitched a fine game, allowing just 1 earned run on 5 hits and 5 walks in 8 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 68.
While this was largely a pitchers' game, there were a few noteworthy hitting performances. For the Americans, Fred Clarke (1 for 2, Triple, 2 Walks) and John Farrell (2 for 4) played well, while Tommy Corcoran (2 for 4, Double) and Honus Wagner (1 for 3, Walk, Stolen Base) played well in the loss.
Player of the Game: Noodles Hahn (Season: #11 / Career: #72)
