May-be we're for real.
A hot March became a hot April but with BNN predicting us around 10 games above .500, it was only a matter of time before we cooled some. May would provide a lot of tough tests as we'd face several teams with records mirroring our own.
Our first series is finishing up against San Luis. Former Lynx Bryan continues to want to play spoiler but we hold him to a nice 3-12 with no RBIs. We take the series. 1-1
Next up is a 4 game series against Mexico City, who, like us are a pitching/defensive team first. Aside from one game, all are pitching duels but, we split the series. 2-2
On the road has us up against Tegucigalpa. When I randomized these cities, I was not expecting to have to spell so many. Why, Mexico, why. A .500 ballclub, the Valiants put up a fight worthy of their name but we take the rubber match. 2-1
After a week, we see San Luis again, this time at their home base. Bryan gets us this time, providing 2 RBIs in the three games as they return the favor, evening us out at 3-3 on the year. 1-2
The windy city is next. We lose the first but our pitching finds dominance in the back two of the series as Turrieta holds them to 2 and Davis nearly goes the distance, letting only 1 cross home. 2-1
Our scout finds what looks to be a 3, 3 1/2 star prospect Sergio Catalan from Venezuela. He's got the looks of batter who will strikeout, homer, or walk.
Division rival Ottawa comes to visit. They're underperforming for the season but they still manage to split the series with us despite our pitching continuing to play well in 3 of the games. If we don't hit with runners on, we don't win. 2-2
We make a trade. Lingenfielder has been struggling all year in the pen after coming back from his season ending injury last year. He was on a walk year anyway so we deal him for what we hope is a OF upgrade in Hugo Cruz. He'll be our 4th OF on the chart though he could easily steal a spot from Leija or Kunz.
Back on the road, we face Managua who have the division lead on us, outperforming at a .618 win percentage. They show us they're leaders for a reason and extend their lead by a game. 1-2
Another playoff team is next in Guadalajara. They lead the majors in just about every offensive category with MVP Zavala and former Lynx RF Harley Newman who's putting together a solid year. Still, our offense rises to the occasion and we two games even with CL Rodriguez blowing his first save of the season 18/19. 2-1
The tough teams, keep coming as we get San Diego at home. We lose the rubber match and the series. 1-2
The last game of the month is against Tijuana. We drop it to drop to under .500 for the month. 0-1
14-15 for the month against what proved to be tough competition. We're still in a great place overall though but we need to win games against playoff teams. I've compiled a list of former Lynx. Here, we see how the batters are doing this season. I'm only adding players who were starters.
