2014 WAB Hall of Fame

West African Baseball had back-to-back years without any inductees into the Hall of Fame. Leading the 2014 ballot was 3B Yakubu Odiye at 62.1% on his second try, just short of the 66% requirement. The best debut was RF Emmanuel Kao at 58.6%. Also topping 50% were RF Ada Nwankwo at 54.6% for his fifth ballot and 3B Falaba Bah with 53.6% for his second go.

Dropped after ten ballots was CF Louis Johnson, who won four Silver Sluggers over a 16-year career between Lome and Port Harcourt. Knee injuries limited him and he only had four seasons where he didn’t miss significant time. Still, the Sierra Leonean had 1809 hits, 1048 runs, 458 doubles, 95 triples, 318 home runs, 964 RBI, a .272/.339/.513 slash, 142 wRC+, and 67.3 WAR. If he could’ve stayed healthier, Johnson probably had a shot. But alas, he peaked at 23.7% in 2006 and ended with only 8.2%.
