I was wondering if I could either 1) point the game to use the "/statsNeLmod" file instead of the "/stats" file to populate the random debut players. or 2) make a copy of the original "/stats" file and then rename "/statsNeLmod" file to "/stats" so that it becomes the default. Then the NeL players would randomly populate the draft pool with the other MLB players and I would not have to worry about having 2 versions of Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige, etc.
Is this correct, or am I not considering all of the pitfalls?
Thanks

Yes, you could do that - but a patch will overwrite the contents of a folder called /stats, so beware of that. If you follow the instructions of how to point to the modded stats folder but instead of starting a regular Historical Game, you used the RD wizard and went immediately to the Advanced Mode per the pdf instructions, and so pointed to the stats mod from the outset, that's probably safer in the long run (to avoid patch issues).
If you want to start in a past historical year, you can also decide - do you want our Teams.csv with the extra teams or the real-life team evolution (use the unmodded Teams.csv in whatever file you point to)?
Make sense?
