CBO Analysis
We are right at the halfway point of the season, and, as we move from early to late June, we should start seeing teams make their moves to build for the playoffs. If a .600 winning percentage would be considered having a great year, then only three teams are at that level currently: Salem, Fort Hagen, and Roxbury. This season has more stories to tell.
Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:
Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Salem Witch Hats (119.2, o)
2) Roxbury Rad Sox (113.5, +)
3) Goodneighbor Hancocks (112.7, ++)
4) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (111.5, -)
5) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (108.7, o)
6) Egret Ninjas (104.1, ++)
7) FHE Yao Guai (103.1, +)
8) The Slog Ghouls (95.3, ++)
9) Bunker Hill 75ers (94.3, ++)
10) Starlight Killers (93.3, --)
11) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (93.2, --)
12) Cambridge Coursers (91.6, -)
13) Diamond City Swatters (91.4, --)
14) Oberland T-51s (91.3, ++)
15) Vault 81 Dwellers (91.3, ++)
16) University Point Deathclaws (88.6, ++)
17) County Crossing Bloodbugs (88.4, --)
18) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (87.6, -)
19) Quincy Gunners (82.3, ++)
20) Concord Radstags (80.9, ++)
21) Easy Town Assaultrons (80.7, o)
22) Atom Cats (78.2, +)
23) Southie Brews (76.9, -)
24) Spectacle Island Reapers (73.9, --)
25) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (73.3, o)
26) Nahant Celtics (72.8, --)
27) Malden Grognaks (71.6, -)
28) Lexington Synths (49.4, o)
If the playoffs started today, these would be the seeds:
NCA
1. Salem
2. Fort Hagen
3. Nordhagen Beach
4. Starlight (3-2 vs Bunker Hill, 2-0 vs The Slog)
5. The Slog (2-0 vs Bunker Hill)
6. Bunker Hill
SCA
1. Roxbury
2. Jamaica Plain (2-1 vs Goodneighbor)
3. Goodneighbor
4. FHE (3-2 vs Egret)
5. Egret
6. Oberland (3-2 vs Vault 81)
Brotherhood League
While no team has been outstanding in the NCA in the past two weeks, Salem continues to do what needs to be done to stay atop the Brotherhood League. At 5-5 in their last 10, only 7th-place Malden did better at 6-4. Nahant is currently on a six-game losing streak, dropping them from being back in the race to 12 games out and a 6th-place slot.
The Slog has worked their way up to 3rd place, 8 games back of the Hats but only one game back of Nordhagen Beach. Most of the Ghouls' success is due to their offense, ranked tied for 6th in runs scored (297). A few outstanding players include SS Gavin Deux-Gas (.331/19/41), CF Bill Lazarus (.324/3/19/33 SB), 1B Kilometers Davis (.317/10/47), and C Silvam Fourteen (.291/11/39).
Institute League
Fort Hagen was allowing Starlight back in the race but now ride a three-game winning streak while the Killers are on a three-game losing streak, giving the Shroud a five-game lead over Starlight and Bunker Hill. Sunshine Tidings and Cambridge are close to being in the race, while Concord and Lexington take up the rear of the Institute League.
The Killers are not content right now after winning the league two of the past three seasons and on a six-season playoff streak. In 2312, they have been good but not great compared to last season when they seemed primed to win their first championship before slipping in the NCA Championship Series. Starlight is 5th in runs scored (334) and 7th in runs allowed (304). They are surprisingly low in home runs, currently tied for 10th with 64. LF Glenn Higinbotham (.262/8/33) and C Biter Trout (.283/8/26) leade the team with eight apiece.
Minutemen League
This league is a two-team race with Jamaica Plain and Goodneighbor at the top of the standings while the rest of the league is below .500. University Point at 31-32 is the only other team that appears it is still alive for the playoffs.
The Deathclaws have seemed to fall off, but then again, we are having deja vu as though this story has been written before. The once powerful offensive team is now middle of the pack, ranking 7th in runs scored. They are still good at hitting the long ball, currently tied for 2nd in the SCA with 88. 1B Barker Cocoa (.284/20/48) is not his usual dominant self, but he does lead the SCA in four categories. Surprisingly, walks is NOT one of them, a statistic he has led the CBO in every season since 2301. SS Rock Rampage (.310/14/42/7 SB) has also hit well, along with RF Aesed Hayjen (.358.8/20/13 SB).
Railroad League
Roxbury comes in again atop the Railroad League and the SCA. FHE and Egret are tied for 2nd, while Oberland and Vault 81 are tied for 4th. In 6th place, Diamond City is very much in the playoff hunt at 32-31.
Egret started the season 0-8. Since that time, they have gone 35-20, the second-best record in the last 55 games behind Salem. The Ninjas have now jumped up the standings and statistics categories, currently 4th in runs scored (328), including 1st in stolen bases (93), and 5th in runs allowed (278). SS Austin Engill (.276/14/47/19 SB) is the only players with double digits in home runs, so the Ninjas need to improve there. 2B Justin Tootles (27) and CF Pockets Aintfull (22) lead the team in stolen bases.
CBO Standings
CBO Players of the Week
June 10 - Jig McGhee went on a week-long hitting streak against North Charles Association pitchers and captured the Player of the Week honors.
The Bunker Hill left fielder battered the opposition for 11 hits, 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and scored 10 runs. He hit .458 and posted a .519 on-base percentage.
McGhee is hitting .356 so far this season with 49 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He has 68 hits including 10 home runs, 33 walks and .445 OBP.
Esau Babz demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award.
The Spectacle Island left fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .550 average (11-for-20) with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
So far this year, Babz has hit .275 with 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 25 runs scored.
June 17 - The #1 hitter in the North Charles Association was Bunker Hill shortstop Aaron Squire. He was selected as the Player of the Week.
During the week Squire banged out a .393 batting average (11-for-28), 3 home runs, 7 RBI and scored 8 runs.
For the season, Squire has hit .294 with 16 home runs and 56 RBIs. He has played in 59 games and scored 48 times.
Shane Stabb showed his stuff this past week as the veteran rode a hot streak all the way to South Charles Association Player of the Week honors.
The 35-year-old Cats third baseman compiled a .591 average (13-for-22), 2 home runs and 4 RBIs.
Stabb is batting .346 with 9 home runs and 30 RBIs this season.
CBO Noteworthy News
June 16 - There is not much going on for accomplishments in the past two weeks, so we can mention that 2B Peter Pan Calvillo of Salem and 1B Barker Cocoa of University Point are the current votes leaders for the 2312 All-Star Game.

MML All-Star Game
All-Star Providence Warlocks' center fielder Izdere Lifunn-Mars had a night to remember.
Not only did he take the field with the game's best players, he was also a huge factor in the 5-3 Stars League victory over the Legends League All-Stars.
"We had a meeting before the game, and I was struck by the talent in the room. Old stars, young stars, it's a game I'll never forget," Lifunn-Mars said. "I talked to a few of my friends from back home, and they told me to go out and win the game for them. I'm sure they'll be thrilled."

BMU All-Star Game
Justin Lower cemented his status as one of the best in the game with his performance tonight.
"It's an honor to even be invited to the game. To be rewarded as the MVP of the game is extra special," the Massachusetts Association star said after his great showing. "Just playing on the same diamond as some of these guys is a pure treat."
In the game itself, Justin Lower certainly wasn't the only great player out there, but he did enough in the Massachusetts Association's 4-3 win over the Commonwealth Association All-Stars.
Lower boasts a career batting average of .292 with 95 hits, 25 homers and 68 RBIs.
How would you like to manage a team with more star players than you can play? It wouldn't be an easy chore. That's the dilemma facing the two managers at the annual Boston Minor Union All-Star classic -- how to get all the talented All-Stars in the game. But it's a joy for the fans -- to see all their favorite stars on one field at the same time.
Here are the official All-Star rosters:
Commonwealth Association:
SP Chris Brahmin (WIN) - 2-5, 3.39 ERA, 63.2 IP, 0.99 WHIP, 10.2 K/9, 1.9 WAR
SP Jeremiah Jones (LIT) - 5-1, 1.95 ERA, 69.1 IP, 1.05 WHIP, 8.7 K/9, 2.4 WAR
SP Darius Livers (SANC) - 3-1, 2.84 ERA, 69.2 IP, 1.13 WHIP, 7.8 K/9, 1.2 WAR

GBRL All-Star Game
Cupper Galvan shined brightly tonight against the best talent that the GBRL has to offer.
The all-star was named MVP for the annual mid-season showcase held at Ballpark of Freight Depot, as his South League All-Stars downed the North League All-Stars by a count of 16-4.
"It's humbling to even play in a game like this with legends of the sport all around you," he said.
Galvan went 2 for 2 to capture the honor.
The North League All-Stars versus the South League All-Stars. It happens every year halfway through the season. It's a baseball spectacle for the fans and the players alike. It's the 2312 Greater Boston Rookie League All-Star Game. The fans get to see all their favorite stars perform in the same game, and the outstanding players get to play against each other. The players are out to prove that their league is the best. Players are chosen by a vote of the fans.
