Let's go Joes....
It's only Game 1, but tonight it was Joever for the Oakland A's once
Joe Marlette and
Joe Stack were done with them in the ALDS opener. Marlette pitched like the ace he's been for years with a truly dominant performance and Stack staked him to a 3-0 lead with a pair of homers after having a down season (1.0 WAR after averaging 3.1 the last two seasons).
Mal Stephens, a surprise starter in RF over
Duk-yoon Ko, salted away the game with a 2-run shot in the 8th. It could have been more - although the box says they only left 6 men on base, that came from a pair of bases-loaded situations with one out which they couldn't convert.
Danny Morales will try to give the Rays a 2-0 lead going back to California tomorrow.
