Not only that, the division winner getting the three games at home alternated between the East and West divisions each year; there was no seeding involved.
As a general observation, while a historical MLB league will use the historical schedule files for the regular season, for the postseason the schedules are generated entirely by OOTP using whatever logic it's coded to use. The result is that postseason schedules for historical leagues are quite unrealistic.

I have all the information needed to make the postseason schedules for MLB historical leagues fully historically accurate . . . but up to this point OOTPD hasn't seemed interested in improving this aspect.
While there are.a great many advocates for the historical accuracy of player statistics and data, when it comes to the historical accuracy of league-level details, there are almost no advocates, myself being one of the few. Most OOTP users don't seem to care, which I find unfortunate because the player and league details go hand-in-hand.
