October 20-21, 2037: ALCS Game 3 & NLCS Games 3-4

So close...

The Rays were one out away from taking a 1-0 win over Houston and all but burying them with a 3-0 series lead. But Jadon Smith has been the master of the blown save this year and he did it again, giving up a 2-out, 2-run homer in the 9th to breathe life back into Houston and make it a series again. Of course Smith wouldn't have been pitching to the man who hit the homer (Josh Briley) had Wander Franco not booted an easy grounder at 2nd earlier in the inning. Otherwise blame falls on the shoulders of the offense, which could only muster a Danny Rodriguez RBI triple which looked like it would stand up. Gabe Bryant had to leave after 4 with a hamstring tweak which won't keep him from starting a Game 7 should we go that far. Tomorrow Leo Gutierrez toes the rubber for the Rays and he could either be brilliant or terrible; either way the bats are going to have come up with more than one run tomorrow. And hopefully we're not looking back on today's 9th inning for the rest of the winter.

In the NLCS the Memphis Spirit, who came into the league as an expansion team 15 years ago, are one win away from their first-ever World Series:
