The Rays bounced back from the previous night's excruciating loss to beat Houston and go up 3-1 in the ALCS.
Luis Berumen showed that they'd have no ill-effects from the day before by getting things started with a 2-run homer in the first, but Houston took the lead in the 2nd thanks to another key error, this time from
Danny Arroyave as they still haven't scored an earned run in the two games at the Trop. Tampa Bay was not deterred however, and a 3-run rally in the 5th won them the game thanks to RBI doubles from
Wander Franco and
Danny Charlton. And this time the bullpen held with another great outing from
Branden Gammage and an equally excellent one from
Tony Alicea, who came on in the 8th and was allowed to close it out in lieu of the mercurial
Jadon Smith. The Rays are now in an envious position as not only do they need but one win in the next three to advance to the World Series, they'll have their ace
Joe Marlette looking to close it out tomorrow night.
And should the Rays get there they'll be walking with their feet ten feet off of Beale as the Memphis Spirit closed out the Mets:
