The August Super Post

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - At only 25 years of age, Jim Geiger could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.

That would be great news for fans of the Cambridge Coursers, as July was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the North Charles Association Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .451 with 4 home runs, 15 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Geiger is batting at a .361 pace this season, picking up 120 hits in 332 at-bats with 7 home runs, 53 RBIs and 57 runs scored.

SCA Hitter - When guys like University Point's Barker Cocoa win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive July, the longtime South Charles Association veteran toyed with opposing pitchers, collecting 35 hits in 86 at-bats.

The veteran first baseman hit for a .407 batting average and collected 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

This season, Cocoa has delivered 116 hits in 353 at-bats for a .329 average with 38 home runs. He is getting on base at a .448 clip and his totals also include 96 RBIs and 93 runs scored. This year Cocoa has played in 100 games.he is on pace to hit 50 home runs for the third time in four seasons.

NCA Pitcher - County Crossing starter College Luckyman really put the chill on opposing teams in July and today was acclaimed the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month.

He excelled with a 4-0 mark and 2.16 ERA in 6 starts. In 41.2 innings, he fanned 24 and walked 10.

Thus far this season, Luckyman has posted a 12-6 record, started 25 games, struck out 90 batters in 151.1 innings and compiled a 3.33 ERA.

SCA Pitcher - Oberland T-51s hurler Zaire Inquisitor was rewarded today with the South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month honors. Inquisitor, 26, realizes that pitching isn't all about how hard you can throw, it's about accuracy and about picking yourself up even when you've had a run of bad luck.

"I'd like to say I don't give them anything to hit," said the Oberland starter, "but that's not true. Every pitcher gives up a long ball now and then. Usually there's at least one mistake in each at-bat, but you've got to battle through your mistakes and build some positive momentum. The rest will fall into place."

Things did fall into place for Inquisitor. In July he took the ball for 39 innings while notching 26 strikeouts, a 3.92 ERA and a 4-0 record.

This year, Inquisitor has fanned 89 in 141.1 innings and collected a 13-7 record with a 4.33 ERA.

NCA Rookie - The best North Charles Association rookie in July was Easy Town's catcher Jasha Varnikov.

He hit .342 with 25 hits, 6 home runs, 13 RBIs, and 10 runs scored. He also walked 11 times on his way to a .435 OBP.

On the year, Varnikov is hitting .246 with 73 hits, 9 home runs, 44 RBIs, .317 OBP and has scored 28 runs.

SCA Rookie - Slip Knotty is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In July the FHE hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .309 average with 29 hits, 6 home runs and 11 RBIs.

This year, Knotty has hit at a .266 clip with 51 RBIs, 16 home runs and 46 runs scored.

The 29-year-old Kilcoin added 32 strikeouts in 54.2 innings and 12 walks to his season record and compiled a 2.96 ERA. Other clubs hit .237 against him.

Over the season Kilcoin has thrown 180 innings and dished out 122 strikeouts with a 17-4 mark and a 3.30 ERA.

SL Pitcher - The Needham Archers bullpen was superb in July -- and Scout Many-Marshes was a big reason for that success. He was named the Stars League Pitcher of the Month today.
