Vim! League Regular Season Over: Gulpers-Ghoul Whales Alive
The 2312 season is now finished, and the National Park Gulpers will take on the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales in the 12th Vim! Series. The Gulpers are making their second appearance in the Vim! Series with their first earning a championship in 2310. Far Harbor is making its sixth appearance and second straight. The Ghoul Whales have lost their last four appearances with their only championship coming in the inaugural season of 2301.
There was only one record broken in 2312 in all of the Vim! League. Cranberry Island's 2B Bobba Fette set the triples record (14), beating out Water Allen's 2305 record of 13. The Vim! League also saw a record number of players with 10 or more triples this season with three players hitting at least 10. National Park SS DaMan Sayes (11) and Echo Lake LF Witcher Craft hit 10. Before this season, there had been only five total players with 10 or more triples in a season. Allen is the all-time leader with 68. He finished with six this season.
Mount Desert Island League
The end of the 2312 MDIL season was as exciting as it could be with both divisions finishing in a tie in the regular season, requiring a one-game playoff in each of the divisions for the right to play in the Mount Desert Island Series. In the Small Bertha Division, the Cliff's Edge Actors (Cranberry Isle) bested the Brooke's Head Behemoths (Far Harbor), 6-5, on a walk-off walk. The Actors scored two in the bottom of the 9th to win it. In the Longfellow Division, the Haddock Cove Engineers (Grand Hotel) held off the Oceanarium Oceanics (National Park), 2-1, to win the division. RF Sunrise Lapdog's RBI double in the bottom of the 8th was the difference.
Vim! Rookie League
Like what Evan Guy covered about the NWLRL, the Vim! Rookie League will also cease to exist after this season. With that stated, the last season of the VRL ended with the Glowing Grove Brainiacs (National Park) and Huntress Island Ug-Qualtoths (Dalton Farm) winning their divisions for the right to play in the Vim! Rookie Series. This will mark the Brainiacs' fourth trip to the Vim! Rookie Series with their only championship coming in their last appearance in 2310. Huntress Island is making its first appearance in the Vim! Rookie Series with the first championship being in 2302 as part of the MDIL.
