October 3, 2055: at NY Yankees (1)

It was the makeup game nobody wanted to play but if you're going to play it you might as well win it and that's what the Rays did, blanking the Yankees 4-0 behind a brilliant spot start from rookie Elijah Whitaker. The young lefty got his first MLB win going 6.1 6 0 0 1 5 and got support from the homer-hitting combo of Alex Brown (#5) and Cesar Scroggins (#7), who each went deep for the second straight day after doing a lot of benchwarming of late. In likely his last regular season game as a Ray the legendary Luis Barela was 3-4 with a double and an RBI. Whitaker has now put himself in serious contention for the playoff rotation as after Dave Rose and Brad Villarreal there are quite a few question marks.

Final Regular Season Record: 95-67. Next up: the ALDS against Minnesota, starting at Publix Park at some point after the NL wraps up its 3-way wildcard tiebreaker and the wild card games eventually get played.
