Game 96: Boston Americans vs. Washington Senators
A prime chance for Boston to narrow Washington's American League lead. Instead, the Senators (56-40) offense jumped on Tannehill early and cruised to an 8 to 3 victory over the visiting Americans (53-43). UGH!!!
Frank Kitson (6-3) picked up his 5th consecutive win, as he limited the opposition to 3 earned runs on 6 hits in his 108-pitch outing; Game Score 67.
The struggles of Jesse Tannehill (10-13) continue, as he served up 7 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits, 2 walks, and 1 hit batsman in 6 innings of play; Game Score 30. This is Tannehill's 6th loss in his last 7 decisions. Gus Thompson pitched the final 2 innings in which he permitted 1 earned run on 2 hits and 1 walk.
Not only was Kitson solid on the mound, he pounded the ball at the plate; cranking out a 3 for 4 (Double, Triple, 2 Runs, RBI, Stolen Base) day. Additionally, Monte Cross (2 for 4, 2 RBIs) and Duff Cooley (1 for 2, Run, 2 Walks) played well in the victory. For the Americans, Chick Stahl (3 for 4, Triple, 2 Runs) and Dave Brain (2 for 4, Double, Triple, Run, 2 RBIs) contributed at the plate.
Player of the Game: Frank Kitson
