The Sheffield Mountain Hares got off to a losing start in their season opener in Singapore, as 29 year old Amduka Lecchelo went 6 innings giving up two runs for the Shipwrights. Third baseman Issam bin Dabir was the star of the game, going 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles as the Shipwrights marched to a convincing win. Game 2 - Saturday April 5th, 2059
SP: Giobbe Marinello
The Hares exploded out the gates in game 2 of the season, as they smashed 4 runs past the Shipwrights in the first inning in a commanding 8-2 win. Koehler was on form, going 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. The Hares’ first home run of the season went to the Nicaraguan veteran Padilla though, as the off-season acquisition paid of early for the Hares with a bomb in the 8th. Giobbe Marinello’s first outing was solid, giving up just 2 runs in 6 innings, before the North-Korean Su-min Kim capably kept the Mariners at bay for the final 3 innings.
Player of the game: Adam Koehler
Game 3 - Sunday April 6th, 2059
SP: Isaac Saville
Isaac Saville gave up only 2 hits and no runs in his Hares debut as Sheffield convincingly beat Singapore 5-1, to take the series. Hares fans were excited by what they saw as the left-handed Englishman perplexed Singapore’s lineup again and again. Sergio Rutz and Jesus Morales got their first homers of the season in a win that will make the flight back to Sheffield to take on St. Petersburg all the more pleasant.
