CBO Association Semifinals Round Results

NCA #5 The Slog Ghouls vs #1 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud

Game 1: Fort Hagen 5, The Slog 4

Kalel, Fort Hagen Open ASF Strong with 5-4 Win

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud started the Association Semifinal Round in style, downing the visiting The Slog Ghouls at Hubris Comics Park by a score of 5-4 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Silver Shroud left-hander La'Ray Kalel threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball.

Alibel Contacts drew 1 walk against the Ghouls. With the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run that put Fort Hagen in front, 5-4.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Kalel.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Game 2: The Slog 8, Fort Hagen 3

The Slog Win Evens Series at 1

With left fielder President Washington leading the charge, the The Slog Ghouls got a road win over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 8-3, in Game 2 of the Association Semifinal Round. Washington went 5-5 with a double and 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once at Hubris Comics Park to help The Slog force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.

The Slog relied on the hitting of Silvam Fourteen to pick up the win. The catcher ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Ghouls on top, 5-0. For the game, Fourteen had 1 triple and 2 singles in 3 at-bats.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Washington.

Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at Tarberry Field Forever in The Slog.

Game 3: Fort Hagen 8, The Slog 6

Cardinal Blasts Ghouls, Silver Shroud Take Game 3, 8-6

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud moved to within one game of the Association Championship Series, downing the The Slog Ghouls on the road at Tarberry Field Forever by a score of 8-6. Silver Shroud right fielder Orcin Cardinal was 2-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The win gives the Silver Shroud a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal Round.

Saco, Maine native Orcin Cardinal had a clutch at-bat in the top of the seventh for the Silver Shroud. With Fort Hagen trailing 6-5, he hit a 3-run home run.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Cardinal, "one at-bat at a time."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Tarberry Field Forever in The Slog.

Game 4: The Slog 4, Fort Hagen 0

Ghouls Even With Silver Shroud After Home Win

The The Slog Ghouls and the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud will take the Association Semifinal Round to a decisive 5th game. Facing a must-win situation, the Ghouls shut out the Silver Shroud, 4-0, at Tarberry Field Forever to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. The Slog left-hander Cutter Redman did his part. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball.

Bill Lazarus dealt the Silver Shroud a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and The Slog leading 1-0, Lazarus, who finished 5th in the SCA in stolen bases with 25 in 2307, hit a 0-1 fastball for a bases-clearing double.

"I made some pitches when I had to," said Redman.

Game 5 is scheduled for Friday at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Game 5: Fort Hagen 5, The Slog 4

Fort Hagen Takes Association Semifinal Round in Deciding Game

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud and The Slog Ghouls put on a classic Association Semifinal Round that was in question until the final game.

In the end, Fort Hagen won the deciding contest by a score of 9-2, to take the series 3-2.

"It doesn't get much tighter than that. To win a series in the last game is a thrill," said Orcin Cardinal, who earned series MVP honors for Fort Hagen. "Our guys are breathing a little easier now."

For the series, Cardinal hit .263 with a .364 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 9 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud will play against the Salem Witch Hats in the next round. Salem won their series against the County Crossing Bloodbugs 3 games to 2. The Shroud will be making their sixth NCACS, having won three of them previously.

Game 1: County Crossing 7, Salem 4, 10 inn.

Why Not? CC's Why Blasts Walk-off Win

The County Crossing Bloodbugs took the first game of the Association Semifinal Round in dramatic fashion, topping the Salem Witch Hats, 7-4, in an extra-inning walk-off win. Bloodbugs left fielder Any Why went 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With no one out, Why hit a fastball from Aimer Doghair for a 3-run home run. The Bloodbugs, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"What a buzz," said Why after it was over.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Beantown Brewery Stadium in County Crossing.

Game 2: County Crossing 4, Salem 3

County Crossing Pins 4-3 Loss on Salem

The County Crossing Bloodbugs moved to within one game of the Association Championship Series, downing the visiting Salem Witch Hats at Beantown Brewery Stadium by a score of 4-3. Bloodbugs right-hander Gavin Eviritts had a strong outing in which he threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Bloodbugs a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal Round.

Jimjames LaFleur, who finished 4th in the NCA in doubles with 29 in 2310, chipped in a 2-run home run for County Crossing in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"It's a gut punch," Witch Hats manager Nick Caudill said, "to get here and find ourselves down 0-2 in the blink of an eye."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 10th , 2312 at Vim! Park of Salem in Salem.

Game 3: Salem 7, County Crossing 4

Bloodbugs Hammered by Erb, Drop Game 3 to Witch Hats

The Salem Witch Hats have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading County Crossing Bloodbugs, winning, 7-4, at Vim! Park of Salem. Witch Hats left fielder Dan Erb went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Witch Hats to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal Round.

Peter Pan Calvillo's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning was a big one for Salem. Coming to bat with one out, the bases loaded and Salem trailing 3-1, the second baseman hit a 2-run single.

"It was a solid team effort," said Erb after the game.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Vim! Park of Salem in Salem.

Game 4: Salem 7, County Crossing 4

1B DeLong Lights Up Bloodbugs for 5 RBIs as Witch Hats Tie ASF

The Salem Witch Hats and the County Crossing Bloodbugs will take the Association Semifinal Round to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation, the Witch Hats beat the Bloodbugs, 11-8, at Vim! Park of Salem to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Salem first baseman Brian DeLong went 2-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once.

Had Hopper Hayes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hayes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Witch Hats.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Hayes.

Game 5 is scheduled for Friday at Beantown Brewery Stadium in County Crossing.

Game 5: Salem 8, County Crossing 7

Witch Hats Move on to Association Championship Series

The Salem Witch Hats are off to the Association Championship Series after an exciting Association Semifinal Round triumph.

Salem downed the County Crossing Bloodbugs, but needed the entire series to do so, with a 8-7 win tonight at Beantown Brewery Stadium wrapping up the series 3-2.

"It's every guy in this room that made this happen. Without us all pulling in the same direction, we don't win this series," said Dan Erb, who earned MVP honors for a standout offensive series.

Erb put up a .450 with a .542 on-base percentage in the series. He also had 2 home runs, drove in 5 runs and scored 8 runs himself.

The Witch Hats are making their NCACS debut against the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, a team that has been to three Sole Survivor Series.



SCA #5 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets vs #1 Roxbury Rad Sox

Game 1: Roxbury 2, Jamaica Plain 1

Association Semifinal Round Game 1 Victory for Laloosh and Roxbury

The Association Semifinal Round got off to a quiet start, with the host Roxbury Rad Sox taking a low-scoring, 2-1 win over the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets. Roxbury right-hander Nuke Laloosh was marvelous at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury. The Rad Sox now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.

Laloosh was effective for Roxbury, seldom allowing the Red Rockets to square up a pitch. The right-hander tossed 99 pitches over 7 innings. He limited Jamaica Plain to just 1 run on 4 hits.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Roxbury manager Bryan Pingree.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Roxbury.

Game 2: Roxbury 2, Jamaica Plain 1

Roxbury Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair

The Roxbury Rad Sox moved to within one game of the Association Championship Series, downing the visiting Jamaica Plain Red Rockets at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury by a score of 2-1. Rad Sox right-hander Urm Rehfeldt had a strong outing in which he threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Rad Sox a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal Round.

Donn Mattingley had a critical at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the sixth for Roxbury. He came through with a run-scoring double to put Roxbury in front, 2-0.

"The old adage is true," said Mattingley. "Good pitching stops good hitting."

The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, September 11th , 2312 at Red Rockets Stadium in Jamaica Plain.

Game 3: Jamaica Plain 6, Roxbury 4

Larsonist Blasts Rad Sox, Red Rockets Take Game 3, 6-4

The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets defeated the Roxbury Rad Sox, 6-4, in Game 3 of the Association Semifinal Round. Making an impact was shortstop Brandon Larsonist, who went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. The win narrows Jamaica Plain's deficit in the series to 2-1.

Odo Capchange, the Jamaica Plain first baseman, contributed a 2-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to make the score 6-0, Red Rockets. For the game, Capchange went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.

"It's a huge change in atmosphere versus last game," Capchange said after the win. "I feel like we're back in the mix now. We just can't let up."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Red Rockets Stadium in Jamaica Plain.

Game 4: Jamaica Plain 6, Roxbury 4

Rad Sox Hammered by Morgueman, Drop Game 4 to Red Rockets

The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets and the Roxbury Rad Sox will take the Association Semifinal Round to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation, the Red Rockets beat the Rad Sox, 6-5, at Red Rockets Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Jamaica Plain third baseman Tre' Morgueman went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.

Morgueman had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the fifth for the Red Rockets. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Jamaica Plain trailing 4-3, he hit a 3-run home run.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Morgueman said after the game.

Game 5 is scheduled for Saturday at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Roxbury.

Game 5: Jamaica Plain 6, Roxbury 4

Late Rally Sends Rockets to SCACS

The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets and Roxbury Rad Sox hooked up in a classic Association Semifinal Round that went right down to the wire.

In the end, it's Jamaica Plain heading off to the Association Championship Series, after a 2-1 win at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury tonight earned the 3-2 series win.

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the 9th with the season on the line, the Rockets had to face Roxbury closer Professor Harriel to try to rally. And that they did. CF Velvet Underground led off with a first-pitch double. One batter later, LF Ken Debate hit a two-run blast to put Jamaica Plain up for good. Closer Mel Stud Quijas got a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 9th to seal the series come-from-behind upset.

Outside Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury, whether they were supporters of Jamaica Plain or Roxbury, many fans talked about how it was a series they would never forget.

Debate played the hero for the Red Rockets in the series, as his MVP performance included a .353 batting average, with a .476 on-base percentage. He also had the series-clinching home run, 3 RBI, and scored 4 runs.

Jamaica Plain will play against the Vault 81 Dwellers in the next round. This will be the Rockets' fourth SCACS appearance. The Red Rockets' come-from-behind series victory guarantees that the SCA will have a first-time representative in the Sole Survivor Series.



SCA #3 Vault 81 Dwellers vs #2 Goodneighbor Hancocks

Game 1: Vault 81 3, Goodneighbor 0

Road Win Lifts Vault 81 to 1-0 Lead in ASF

Ryan Goodpryce and the Vault 81 Dwellers opened the Association Semifinal Round in brilliant fashion, traveling to Goodneighbor and shutting out the host Hancocks at Third Rail Stadium, 3-0, to secure an important 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Goodpryce, the Dwellers right-hander, threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Phantom Vargas? The Vault 81 catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Dwellers on top, 1-0. For the game, Vargas had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Vargas called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Third Rail Stadium in Boston.

Game 2: Goodneighbor 3, Vault 81 1

Raucous Third Rail Stadium Crowd Propels Hancocks to 3-1 Victory; Series Tied at 1

The Goodneighbor Hancocks took down the Vault 81 Dwellers by the score of 3-1 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the Association Semifinal Round. The largest share of the credit belongs to Goodneighbor starter Mister Burns, who threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball.

Burns was in the zone, shutting down Vault 81 hitters over 7 innings. Burns, who threw 92 pitches, allowed 1 run on 3 hits. He also tallied 4 punchouts.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Goodneighbor manager Herschel Begin said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, September 11th , 2312 at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.

Game 3: Vault 81 7, Goodneighbor 5

Hancocks Hammered by Gains, Drop Game 3 to Dwellers

The Vault 81 Dwellers moved to within one game of the Association Championship Series, downing the visiting Goodneighbor Hancocks at CURIE Inc. Field by a score of 7-5. Dwellers center fielder Stu Gains did some major damage. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. The win gives the Dwellers a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal Round.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Dwellers grabbed the lead when End Yamada rapped a two-out home run. Vault 81 was trailing 1-0, when Yamada hit a 3-run home run off Clubhouse Treelover to put his team in front, 3-1.

"The vibe's good," said Vault 81 manager Drac Jaskula. "We've got to keep it going."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.

Game 4: Vault 81 5, Goodneighbor 4, 14 inn.

Dwellers Win Association Semifinal Round on 14th Inning SF

A 5-4 triumph at CURIE Inc. Field has wrapped up the Association Semifinal Round for the Vault 81 Dwellers.

Joe Rathmann's 14th-inning walk-off sacrifice fly, scoring Mark Dombrowski, clinched the four-game series victory for the Dwellers. Vault 81 had trailed 4-0 heading into the bottom of the 6th before they began their late comeback to tie the game and then took the win in the fifth extra frame.

"We're off to the Association Championship Series," said Dwellers catcher Phantom Vargas, who was named series MVP after his club eliminated the Goodneighbor Hancocks by a series score of 3-1. "You can never take a win in a series like this for granted," he said.

The Vault 81 Dwellers will play the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets in the Association Championship Series. It will be the Dwellers' fourth trip to the SCACS.
