Sole Survivor Series: Fort Hagen Silver Shroud vs Vault 81 Dwellers
Game 1: Fort Hagen Takes 1-0 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud started the Sole Survivor Series in dramatic fashion, stealing Game 1 from the Vault 81 Dwellers in a walk-off. Fort Hagen won, 2-1, behind a good day from starter Sarthis Idren. The left-hander threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball in the win, which gave the Silver Shroud a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
Jaxon Grits was the walk-off hero for Fort Hagen. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Silver Shroud third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Grits said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.
Game 2: Fort Hagen Pins 4-2 Loss on Vault 81
A strong performance from pitcher Ryan Goodpryce was not enough for the Vault 81 Dwellers, who were stopped by the visiting Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 4-2, in Game 2 of the Sole Survivor Series. The Silver Shroud never truly figured out the right-handed Goodpryce, who threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Still, the Silver Shroud now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.
Fort Hagen took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Alibel Contacts hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Silver Shroud fans to their feet.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Fort Hagen manager Darnell Bright.
The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, September 25th , 2312 at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.
