NWL Award Winners

Hitter - Genius Jerry Kordic of the Cherry Ghoulrillas had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Nuka King Award for 2312.

The 27-year-old right fielder put up a .354 average and a .407 on-base percentage, piling up 128 hits, 26 doubles, 8 triples, 18 home runs, 68 RBIs and 78 runs scored.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 8. Curt Toth of the Dark Bloodworms finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Jukie Robbins of the Quantum Nukalurks finished third.

Starter - Cameron Biehler of Quantum excelled on the mound in 2312 with a 18-3 record and was named the Nuka World League Nuka Cannon Award winner.

The Nukalurks star put on quite a show with a 2.45 ERA in 23 starts and 83 strikeouts in 143 innings.

He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Kory DiLeva of the Grape Painted Ghouls finished second in voting, while Chris Yao of the Quartz Star Force finished third.

Rookie - Cherry fans have reason to cheer today as right fielder Genius Jerry Kordic brought home the Nuka World League Nuka Baby Bottle Award for 2312.

He put together a .354 batting average on the strength of 128 hits and swatted 18 home runs. He also racked up 68 RBIs and scored 78 runs, signaling that this might be the beginning of a solid baseball career.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 8. Everlast Barron of the Cherry Ghoulrillas finished second in voting, while Tick Garrett of the Cherry Ghoulrillas finished third with 1 first place vote.

Reliever - Old Buck Buchanan of the Cherry Ghoulrillas proved this season that age is just a number, as the 38-year-old relief stud turned in a season that was better than all his Nuka World League peers.

"Winning the Nuka Thirst Zapper Award at age 38 is something I didn't really expect, but I'll take it," he said.

Buchanan's strong season saw him fashion a 1.16 ERA through 31 innings. He had 28 saves in 34 relief appearances and also put up 18 strikeouts and 5 walks. Opponents hit only .250 against the tough reliever.

He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Christiansen Mandelbrot of the Quantum Nukalurks finished second in voting, while Alex Dressmaker of the Victory Cave Crickets finished third.

Hitter - It's been a year of triumph for veteran Bobba Fette of the Cranberry Island Hermit Crabs as he hit his way to the 2312 Vim! League Vim! MVP Award.

The 27-year-old veteran compiled a .378 average and .430 on-base percentage by putting together 140 hits, 29 doubles, 14 triples, 2 home runs and 36 walks. He also scored 86 times and drove in 39 runs.

He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 8. Hazmatt Zuniga of the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Toppie Gunn of the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers finished third.

Starter - The Vim! League announced today that Kap Kooke has been chosen the Vim! Top Arm Award winner for 2312. The Far Harbor starter had everything working for him this past season as he breezed to a 11-6 record.

In his award-winning season Kooke crafted a 3.06 ERA in 132.1 innings with 103 strikeouts and 52 walks. Opposing batters hit .255 against him in his 22 starts.

He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 8. Phil Cecil of the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Alex Ruder of the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales finished third.

In 87 games, the Echo Lake first baseman hit .337 with 111 hits, 20 home runs, 68 RBIs, 43 walks, 53 runs scored and a .416 on-base percentage.

He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Mader Sierra of the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales finished second in voting, while Matt Welsch of the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers finished third.

Reliever - Sundown Velasquez was a calming influence out of the Grand Hotel Atoms bullpen this season.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 25-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Vim! League Vim! Refresh Reliever Award for 2312.

The Canton, Massachusetts native won the award with 7 saves in 33 relief appearances, 23 strikeouts in 36.2 innings and a record of 4-5 to go with his 2.95 ERA.

He received 3 first place votes out of a possible 8. Steve Commo of the National Park Gulpers finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Riff Tamson of the Grand Hotel Atoms finished third with 2 first place votes.
