CBO Draft Preview

Let's take one last look at the draft with players rated high by the OSA yet do not have a lot of hype:

SP Richard Burns, South Charles Bank Moonies - Burns is expected to be the first pitcher of the board after completing an impressive career with the Moonies where his career record is 48-10 with a 2.08 ERA in 74 starts. Those 48 wins ties Burns for 1st all-time along with current Diamond City SP Paul Stains. Burns is also the all-time ERA leader and Opponents OBP (.261).

SP Leland van Sprang, Taunton Giants - Another highly successful pitcher, going 41-15 with a 2.58 ERA over for years, van Sprang is a tough lefty to face. Scouts love his control and ability to get quick outs. Unfortunately, he does not yet have high stamina, which he will need to work on to reach six innings.

C Harvey Aard, Commonwealth University - Aard, the three-year starter with the Terriers, has been a star, including hitting over .400 twice. Scouts like his potential to hit for average but also to be a rare power-hitting catcher. His defense is solid, which should push him to a role in the CBO.

CF Dexion Evicus, C.I.T. - Evicus blasted out of the gates as a college freshman, batting .409 before settling into around a .325 average his next two seasons. He has a lot of speed but was hardly ever let loose on the base paths, something he will probably do more in the minors. Scouts think he has potential to be decent at hitting for average and power, which could push him to the top of a lineup.

2B Gutty O'Flaherty, Hope Firestarters - O'Flaherty started to grow into his body, blasting 27 home runs during his senior season with the Firestarters. Scouts think that his power potential will only get better as he grows more into his frame and he could be a premier power hitter in the CBO one day.

CCBL Changes

The first eight teams of the Southern Commonwealth (SoComm) Conference have joined: the Brown University Bears, Connecticut (UConn) Yankees, East Connecticut State University (ECSU) Warriors, Fairfield University Stags, Hartford University Hawks, Providence College Friars, Rhode Island University Rams, and Yale University Bulldogs.

CYL Changes

Lots of teams have joined the CYL, so we will not list them all. Instead, we will drop the complete North and South Regions, including the two new divisions, the W.E.B. DuBois and John Hancock divisions.
