Game 1 at home was a great pitchers battle between Douglas Nelson and Michael Elliott. Wes Clements homered off Elliott in the top of the 1st, but that was all the Sox could muster off the Dodger starter. Elliott allowed just the 1 run over 8 innings, but Nelson was also dealing, also allowing 1 run but over 7 innings.
Nothing but zeros through 11 when Omar Vizquel singled home Gerald Perry in the 12th and the Sox took game 1 2-1. Each team only had 9 baserunners each as the game lasted a quick 2:45 minutes.
