The key game 5 matchup was a rematch of the game 1 pitching duel between Nelson and Elliott and things weren't much different. The key difference is this didn't go extra innings.
With 2 outs is the 2nd, Carter singled in Maldonado to make it 1-0 Dodgers. With 2 outs in the 3rd, Maldonado hit his 2nd home run of the series with Brunansky on and the Dodgers had a 3-0 lead.
Which was 2 more than Elliott needed. He shut out the Dodgers on 96 pitches allowing 8 baserunners total, only 1 of whom reached 2nd base, Ozzie Smith in the 5th inning. Other than that, the Dodgers went 90 feet max, then back to the dugout.
So we go back to Cali 27 outs away from (another) World Series win
