Disheartening news out of Detroit. Harris is now walking around saying they aren’t interested in signing any free agents to long term contracts. So if you are keeping score at home he said they would spend when:

1. Miggy contract was off the books.
2. When they had found a winning core

Well they paid Miggy the last 8 million they owed him this season and the team reached the playoffs with a young core. So I guess my question is what is the next yard marker this team has to cross before they spend? Or just be truthful. Come out and say that we plan to run a low budget draft and develop only model because I’m the smartest guy in the room and the owner knows you will support the product anyway, so why spend? That at least I would make me upset for sure, but I would get over a lot quicker than listening to them make the above spending comments and then tell us how we heard them incorrectly. However, I understand they don’t know who I am and couldn’t care less about my thoughts and feelings.

Maybe it’s a smoke screen and they sign Bregman to a five year deal and we can all be excited. I would happily eat crow if that was the case.
