A largely injury-free spring training with only OF
Norietsu Kurokawa landing on the IL with a mild shoulder strain that should sideline him until mid-April.
The Opening Day roster shakes out as such:
C-Rutschman, Arrambide
1B-Haro
2B-Mesa
SS-Cedillos
3B-C.Williams
IF-J.Jones
LF-A.Thomas
CF-R.Solano
RF-Hardy
OF-Tovar, Jasso
DH-Y.Alvarez
Tovar is
Manny Tovar, who was up for a little bit in 2031 but had been at Durham since. He made the team in lieu of the injured Kurokawa. Otherwise with the exception of
Alek Thomas it's pretty much the same lineup as last year.
SP-Acosta, Khattak, Stone, Stevenson, Oviedo
LR-Lennon
MR-Buckman, Little, Vargas, Watters, L.Gonzalez
SU-Ogando, M.Green
CL-R.Rodriguez
L.Gonzalez is
Luis C. Gonzalez, whom we claimed on waivers from Philly just before Opening Day, He's a righty rated 65/65/45 who saved 7 games with 80 Ks in 52 IP last year and should improve the pen.
What does BNN think of this team? Quite a bit it seems:
Much as last year we're not expected to have any true standout players but a solid all-around team. Perhaps we'll get hot in October and win the World Series just like last year too.
