In the draft, there were dozens of players who were really good hitters IRL and very few pitchers. In addition, about 2 rounds deep virtually everyone was already at a AA skill level, even 17 year olds. Not sure why, but it's been creeping that way more and more every year.
Mets-Frank Thomas
Mariners-Jeff Bagwell
Royals-Mike Piazza (unsigned)
White Sox-Carlos Delgado
Cubs-Jim Thome (unsigned)
Mariners-Tim Salmon
Expos-Reggie Sanders
Braves-Brian Giles
Giants-Mo Vaughn
Also drafted in the 1st round were Jeff Kent, John Olerud, Ivan Rodriguez (unsigned),
Ryan Klesko, Andy Benes, JT Snow, Tino Martinez, Darryl Kile and Robin Ventura.
With the last pick I selected 17-year old Sterling Hitchcock who has 10-10 potential stuff and is starting off in A. He could start in AA, but I don't want a 17 year old in AA.
