This is possible but, you can also change settings to change the power of, at least, coach cohesion impact under Global Settings just above owner goals on the left hand side of the page. I believe normal is the default setting.
I mean, this could be what's going on or at least maybe a part of it? Maybe your players were unhappy, had lower morale, and started to win some games and it bumped things up? I for sure would not rule it out but it is hard to tell.
