Game 121: Boston Americans vs. Cleveland Naps
There never seems to be an "easy" game, as this one was another nailbiter to the end. On the day, the Boston Americans (72-49) bested the Cleveland Naps (59-62) by a 3 to 2 score. The Americans have a 6-game lead in the American League standings.
While there is no question in my mind that his record and game outcomes far exceed what is ratings show, Sam Leever (19-8) picked up another win today as he allowed just 2 unearned runs on 5 hits while striking out 2; Game Score 75. Jake Weimer (11-20) took the loss after permitting 3 earned runs on 11 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6 in his 134-pitch outing; Game Score 57.
Boston's offensive production was generated by Frank Chance (3 for 4, Double, Run, RBI, Walk, Stolen Base), Solly Hofman (2 for 3, RBI), and Fred Clarke (2 for 5, Run). Jimmy Sheckard (2 for 4, Double, RBI) and Harry Lumley (1 for 4, RBI, Stolen Base) played well in the loss.
Player of the Game: Sam Leever (Season: #16 / Career: #52)
