Game 122: Boston Americans vs. Cleveland Naps
This one was over after just 1 inning, as the Cleveland Naps (60-62) jumped out to a quick 4-run lead and cruised to a 7 to 1 victory over the visiting Boston Americans (72-50). With the Senators also losing today, Boston maintains its 6-game lead in the AL race.
"Wild Bill" Donovan (17-13) picked up the win, as he permitted 1 earned run on 5 hits and 4 walks in his 120-pitch outing; Game Score 72. Noodles Hahn (19-11) was roughed up today, lasting 7 innings in which he allowed 5 earned runs on 11 hits, 2 walks, and 1 wild pitch; Game Score 37. Fred Applegate covered the final inning and allowed 2 unearned runs on 2 hits and 2 walks.
Hitting the ball well today for the Naps were Ed Delahanty (3 for 5, Double, Run, 2 RBIs), Jimmy Sheckard (2 for 3, 2 Runs, 2 Walks), and Dan Leahy (2 for 4, RBI). John Farrell (2 for 3, Double, RBI) played well in the loss.
