After giving the game away yesterday, we have lost three in a row and are looking to turn things around in Wrigley.
Today the Cubs are pitching Greg Maddux (8-2, 3.18).
The Giants have Charlie Vinson Jr. (3-5, 2.82).
I am back to hitting seventh.
The Cubs struck early as Mark Grace crossed on a Paul O'Neill single in the bottom of the 1st.
Then Chris Hoiles scored on a Brian Jordan single.
Cubs lead 2-0
I came up with two out in the top of the 1st and flew out to Willie Murray in centre.
In the bottom half, Murray and Tim Barker scored on a Bret Barberie single.
With two out, Charlie walked O'Neill with the bases loaded, scoring Grace.
Travis Fryman then scored on a wild pitch.
Cubs lead 6-0
Pat Combs took over for us in the 3rd.
I made a great play on a Barker grounder for the 2nd out for him.
Grace led off the bottom of the 4th with a home run.
With two out, O'Neill doubled Hoiles home.
I took care of a Jordan grounder to end it.
Cubs lead 8-0
I came up with one out in the 5th. I walked.
Stolen base #25. (Iffy decision.)
I was left at 2nd.
Berberie hit a grounder to me... and I bungled it! Error!
Heathcliff Slocumb took over on the mound after that.
Two batters later, Hoiles hit a three-run home run (including MY run).
Cubs lead 11-0
I came up in the 7th with one out and pinch hitter Shawon Dunston on 1st. I walked again.
Maddux struck out the next two, stranding us.
Ted Power took the ball in the bottom of the inning.
He loaded them up, but got out of it.
With one out and one on in the 8th, Matt brought in Bryan Hickerson.
The game ended with me standing on deck.
We lost a tight one yesterday.
Today was a massacre.
I went 0 for 1 with two walks and an error.
