The first three days of October would determine the wild card places for the 2033 postseason. In the American League it was simple: three teams for the final spot with a single game separating them.
The Red Sox (82-77) would take on the worst the American League had to offer at home, the Tampa Bay Rays (66-93).
The Royals (82-77) would take on the worst the National League had to offer on the road, the Atlanta Braves (57-102).
The Tigers would be at home but would take on the AL Central winners, the White Sox (86-73).
The Red Sox score nine in the second inning and it’s a canter from there as they win 12-5. It wasn’t much harder for the Royals, who scored three in the 4th and two in the 5th on the way to a 7-1 win. The Tigers kept their hopes alive, coming from two down to tie it up in the bottom of the 8th before winning it in the 10th.
No change in the standings, The Red Sox leading the Royals courtesy of the tiebreaker, with the Tigers one game back.
