Game two of the final series of the season and all still to play for in the American League Wild Card race. The Red Sox were in control, courtesy of their head-to-head advantage over the Royals while the Tigers were just trying to stay alive in case both teams ahead of them stumbled.
It’s another rout for the Red Sox, who score twelve runs in four innings and run our 13-6 victors. The Royals are even more impressive as a four-run third innings gives them breathing space before they turn on the afterburners to rout the Braves 17-2. The Tigers hopes come to an end, though, as the White Sox break a 2-2 tie in the top of the seventh to take the win 3-2.
Entering the final day of the regular season it’s simple; if the Rex Sox win (their 13th in a row) they move on; if they lose, a Royals victory will see them emerge as the final Wild Card team.
