Sole Survivor Series: Nahant Celtics vs Atom Cats
Game 1: Sole Survivor Series Game 1 Victory for Creep and Atom
The Atom Cats started the Sole Survivor Series in style, downing the visiting Nahant Celtics at Coolest Field in Town by a score of 4-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Cats left-hander Doug Creep threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball.
Atom took control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Joe Brocflower hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Cats.
"We were the better team," crowed Brocflower.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Coolest Field in Town in Atom Cats Garage.
Game 2: Blitzed by Squearfish, Cats, Celtics Sink Further in SSS
Riding the 3-hit performance of left fielder Gremlin T. Squearfish, the Atom Cats stopped the visiting Nahant Celtics, 12-9, in Game 2 of the Sole Survivor Series. Squearfish went 3-5 with 2 home runs and a double, while adding 8 RBI and scoring twice for the Cats, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
Squearfish had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, when he hit a bases-clearing double. The Cats went on to win.
"Hitting 2 home runs in the Sole Survivor Series is a fairy tale," Squearfish said in the clubhouse following the game.
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at The Wharf at Nahant in Nahant.
